Weetabix Muffins & Muffin tops

After a long winter I have definitely gained a few pounds! Last summer I worked my butt of as a cleaner and managed to stay fairly happy with my weight. However as it got to September and I headed back for my final year of uni I couldn't work as much and therefore as that was my main form of exercise I gained a few pounds!

So as it is now March and I have finally booked my first ever holiday (roll on June 28th- Tunisia here I come) I have decided to try and get back into shape.

First things first my diet!

I'm partial to the odd takeaway (or five/six) however i'm really trying to up my healthy food intake. Below are some links to what I have been making!

Recipe:
  • Blend a handful of mixed frozen berries (I chose asda own brand forest fruits)
  • Add a bit of milk and 2 or 3 tablespoons on low fat natural yoghurt and blend
  • Add some Sweet Freedom to make it a bit sweeter and et voilĂ !

Recipe:

I got my recipe from Karen at the link below!

Next time I will show you what exercises I have been doing!

Thanks for reading

Perkier porridge

Now it is getting a little chillier and I'm going back to doing both uni and work I need something quick, filling and healthy for breakfast.

Having tried the Perkier Rocky Road and being over the moon with finding a healthier treat, I decided to give the Perkier porridge a whirl.

Now when I'm in a rush in the morning and need something quick these are going to be just the ticket. You take the lid off, fill up to the line with boiling water, stir and replace the lid until it thickens up! Easy and quick!

I've tried both but the apple one is my favourite, I'm hoping to find some more flavours to keep me going over the cold winter months, as I do like a bit of variety in my breakfasts! On the Perkier website they also have a Golden Syrup flavour one, but unfortunately it wasn't in Sainsburys when I nipped in so I'm going to try ASDA again! You can also buy online.

Rude Health Almond Drink Review

I'm a massive fan of cereal, tea and coffee! I love breakfast and look forward to it when I'm going to bed (sad but true)! Now that I am trying to be a bit healthier I have started to browse the sections in the supermarket where all of the 'free from' foods are and I have found quite a few yummy items.

Yesterday I was in www.sainsburys.co.uk and I can across Rude Health Almond drink. As I'm on my health kick I thought that I would mix things up and swap cows milk (sorry dad! He's a farmer) for this.

At first I was a little apprehensive about using it in my porridge this morning as I have previously tried soya milk and hazelnut milk and hated them! However this little gem was delicious and made my porrige extra delicious! It is quite naturally sweet (probably because of the almonds) but so natural and delicious! I wouldn't say it tastes like cows milk though (because it isn't) but is very nice!

I'm yet to try it in my coffee but I'm hoping that being naturally sweet, this will mean that I no longer need a spoon full of sugar making it that bit healthier!

Only 56cals per 100ml!

Have you tried anything from Rude Health?

You can find out more about rude health here or look out for it in Sainsburys.

Bounce Bounce

Having started my new venture into being healthy I am constantly on the lookout for healthy yet tasty snacks to have instead of chocolate! Thank heavens for my new find Bounce energy balls!

I bought the Coconut and Macadamia one from a health food shop because it was on the counter when I was paying and the colourful wrapper caught my beady little eye! Having never heard about them before I wasn't sure what to expect but I am now in love! They are hard but chewy at the same time and taste delicious with coconut all sprinkled over the outside!

They are according to the pack a mix of coconut, nuts and whey protein and high in the antioxidant vitamin E! Plus they are gluten free and high in fibre, with no artificial preservatives, so a winner all around!

I'm a bit sad I only got one actually as they were 80p each or £3 for 4! Definitely going to go back and try some of the others!

Perkier Gluten Free

In my recent attempt to be a bit healthier but still in need of my monthly chocolate fix I picked up some Rocky road pieces from the brand Perkier when in ASDA.

Now I'm not gluten free but I've heard that it's a bit healthier so decided to give these a whirl, and my goodness I'm glad I did because they are yummy! I took them along to a picnic with my nieces (ages 4, 5 & 7) who also agreed that they were lovely! My sister is currently doing the slimming world diet and was impressed by the lack of calories in each square (59 in case you were wondering) and had one (had to 'sin' it though)!

You honestly can't taste that they don't have gluten or wheat in them as they are so scrummy!

Whether you are gluten free or not I would recommend these little beauties!

Find out more at www.perkier.co.uk

I got mine from ASDA but the website has a list of stockists and they do a whole range of products which I can't wait to try!
Want to get my little mitts on the Gluten Free Apple, Cinnamon and Raisin porrige now that the evenings are drawing in!

Asda Haul

Now I know, I know that it is still peak summer (someone tell the weather that!) But I'm already excited about Christmas! I love love love it! Plus my birthday is in December, so double win (7th in case you were wondering).

I've been eating a little bit more than I probably should have been these past few months, especially true at that certain time of the month when I could just demolish the contents of the fridge, biscuit cupboard etc etc!
Therefore I am now looking to adopt a little healthier lifestyle and diet. I'm not huge but I would like to be a more comfortable 8/10 rather than my current 10/12.

I popped into asda today in search of some healthy food choices and picked up this little lot.

I picked up some cucumber, radish, jackets, frozen veg, grapes, lactofree yogurts, jelly, Ovaltine, weight watcher malted bread, peaches, Muller light, chicken and bacon. This little lot came to around £20 which I think is a bargain and why I love asda.

Tonight I made chicken with veg and had a lactofree yogurt for afters, and am about to have an Ovaltine and some jelly while I watch BBC ones 'in the club'.

I would love any advice on what other people have done in order to adopt a healthier lifestyle and diet.

My favourite thing...

I don't know about anybody else but unless I have a nice brew in the morning, I can't function properly. Some may say I'm addicted, but they might be right! I get a pounding heache if I don't have my morning cuppa.

I've tried so many teabags in my 24 years of life and my absolute favourite has to be Yorkshire tea! Not only for the amazing taste but also for the cute packaging!

For Yorkshire day (August 1st) they even sent me little card and sticker, and for my birthday they send a card a few teabags! How cute is that?

Are you a tea or coffee person?
