Happy Pancake Day!

Its Pancake day... it's up there with Christmas as one of my favourite days of the year. I will be having lemon and sugar on my bad boys, I like to keep it traditional!

How delicious do they look?

I have thought about what I could give up for lent and have decided that I am not going to give up anything! I usually say chocolate or crisps and by the fourth day I have not only eaten a crisp but usually a massive sharing size bag of Walkers Sensations!

Are you giving up anything for lent?

Now because I love her and she is touring the UK I have decided to put my favourite Beyonce video on this post... why not?

25 Facts

I have decided to jump on the '25 Facts About Me' bandwagon, so here goes...

  1. I can't swim. No I really can't, I used to say that I was 'allergic' to chlorine so I didn't have to go to swimming lessons and when my friend tried to teach me I just looked like a drowning dog!
  2. My favourite colour is green.
  3. My favourite number is 7.
  4. I hate fish! The smell, the texture, the eyes, the black bits eugh... though I don't mind it very occasionally deep fried from the fish and chip shop.
  5. I passed my driving test on the second attempt, the first one went horribly wrong and resulted in me crying whilst driving around for a good ten minutes! The poor examiner must have been terrified mwhahaha serves him right for failing me!
  6. I once met Gary Barlow and Jason Donovan when they came for a cream tea together with their wives in the village teashop I used to work in. Jason was at one point making seal noises... very weird day!
  7. I bite my nails. Its disgusting but I do!
  8. I'm really quite shy and either don't say anything or don't stop talking when I meet people- I'm pretty sure lots of people have thought I was pretty rude ignoring them in the past but I literally don't know what to say... so I say nothing!
  9. My dream job would be to present Blue Peter or Countryfile.
  10. I have some Hunter wellies in purple to match my car.
  11. I'm studying Early Child Education and want to be a Reception class teacher.
  12. I have had a couple of grey hairs since I was 17! I dye my hair though so it's OK.
  13. I love Chicken.
  14. I want a teacup maltease puppy! I would call it Tilly if it was a girl or Truffle if it was a boy.
  15. I drink way too much tea. At least 8 cups a day and I get a headache if I don't.
  16. The first time I went to uni was in 2009 and I dropped out after 5 months. I hated it!
  17. I work in a Nursing Home and I really enjoy it. If the pay was better I would work in care forever but I don't want to live on minimum wage for the whole of my life.
  18. I can't listen to the song 'Bad day' by Daniel Powter. I always think it will bring me bad luck which is really silly but I always turn the radio over in a panic if it comes on!
  19. I love talcum powder. It smells so nice and love putting it on after a bath.
  20. I have never been on an plane or left the country.
  21. I never try clothes on in shops and I never take stuff back, therefore I often end up with clothes that don't fit/look awful!
  22. I wear flat dolly type shoes all year round even in the rain.
  23. I live near the sea but I hardly ever go to the beach- I drive past it everyday but don't go actually on it as much as I should.
  24. Cherry Garcia and Vermonster are my favourite Ice creams ever!
  25. I love going to the Cinema, more so than going out out!
There we go 25 Facts about me.

I can't wait to read more of everyone else's facts!
Fact 26: I'm nosy!

2013

Happy New year everyone! I hope you have all had a lovely last few weeks and are ready for the lovely new year!

A new year makes us evaluate the past one and the good and bad points, the highs and the lows.
So here are a few of mine:

  • Completed my NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care! - Now I know that this is equivalent of GCSEs but studying, being observed and doing this all whilst working full-time in a Nursing home is not easy!
  • Got accepted into uni and consequently started uni! Woohoo!
  • Found my new favourite lip product of all time- the YSL Lipstain in number 10!
  • Made some new friends on my uni course.
  • Had some good times with my best friends!
This year I plan to:

  • Complete my first year of uni.
  • Do the 100 day spending ban (on day one and it's going well... only 99 days left).
  • Go on a holiday or at least a different area of the UK- I have NEVER left the UK or been on a plane... actually I have never left England!
  • Eat a little healthier- I have a small problem with hitting up McDonalds after work! Bad habit that MUST stop!
I think that these are achievable targets for the year (apart from the spending ban)! So hopefully I won't be too disappointed in my evaluation of 2013!

What resolutions have you made?

New Years Eve

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and ate lots and had a generally great time with all of the festivities.

Although I love Christmas this 'limbo period' between Christmas and New Year is always a little boring (although I'm working a few days in the Nursing Home; so it's not all slobbing around eating the last of the quality streets and watching trashy TV for me).

I always go to Newquay for New Years Eve and everyone dresses up in fancy dress. I used to think everyone did fancy dress for New Year until recently when I found out that quite a lot of people wear really nice ball gowns or party frocks!

Therefore this is always a time when I need to plan my costume, although in reality it is a panic buy at about 4pm on New Years Eve and I end up going as something terrible.

This year we have decided upon an 'Army Girl' theme, so that should be fairly easy (I hope!) with lots of camo, green, brown and black. I won't be wearing combat pants however. I'm thinking more along the lines of this.

What do you think?

Here are some of my previous costumes! Be warned I do not look great in these!

'Greek Goddess'

'Cave Woman'

'Bee'
I also dressed up as 'Wonderwoman' one year, however I could not find a picture where I looked even remotely ok. Think Summer Roberts in the OC but a lot less graceful!

What are your plans for New Years Eve?
Do you have any dodgy fancy dress pictures?

Christmas Tag

What's your favourite thing about Christmas?

Eating lots of delicious food, giving people presents and watching all of the specials on TV. I also love that everyone celebrates it so I enjoy it more than my birthday!

What's your favourite makeup look for the season?

Red lipstick and glitter!

Real tree or fake tree?

Real but we always have a fake one in our house. I love the big ones that you see in shopping centres and towns which are covered in beautiful lights. I really want to go and see the massive one in New York that is always in movies.

Giving presents or receiving them?
Giving them! I like receiving them as well though! Who doesn't?

Do you open your presents Christmas morning or evening?
In the morning. I did used to open one on Christmas eve when I was little too. I have no patience!

Handmade Christmas cards or bought?

Handmade, but as I am not very creative I buy my cards. I do try to buy the charity ones though.

What's your favourite Christmas film?

Elf. "Buddy the elf whats your favourite colour?"

Warm Cinnamon Nights

I love trying new bath and shower products especially when it is winter and you can have a nice hot bath.

So when I saw the Limited Edition treaclemoon Warm Cinnamon Nights bath and shower gel, I was so excited to try it.
It smells like Christmas in liquid form... sort of sweet but with a Cinnamon smell to. It's not overpowering or anything, although I love Cinnamon scented things sometimes they are a little strong for me, but this is perfect and smells lovely.
The colour is beautiful (my picture doesn't do it justice really) and it is a nice creamy product which leaves the skin smelling and feeling amazing!

Unfortunaltly I think this is only limited edition ... sob! So I will have to make the most of it whilst it is still available.

If you haven't tried anything buy treaclemoon before I would suggest you do because I'm a huge fan. Not only are the products really good value but they are also not tested on animals which is great!
I know they sell it in Tesco and on their website but i'm not sure if you can buy it anywhere else yet not not.

Do you like Cinnamon Scented Products?

Maybelline FIT me!

I saw this in Superdrug and liked the look of it to be honest with you. It is in Classic Ivory for my super pale skin! It applied really easily and doesn't leave any powdery bits like some pressed powders I have tried in the past! It was £5.99.

Inside is a little mirror and a round circle puff thing that you can apply it with on the go, but I prefer using a proper brush for a lighter application.

I don't know if this is new or not, but I have never seen it before! I really like using it and I think it will now become something that I repurchase when I run out because it really works for my skin.

Update: Just a little update on the serum that I got from Superdrug and blogged about a couple of posts ago- well it brought me out in a lovely burny rash all over my face! I was definitely not impressed with that at all, especially as it is being advertised as being hypo-allergenic and dermatological tested and all that jazz! So I won't be buying that again :(
Although saying that just because that happened to me it doesn't mean that it will effect you skin in that way.
